Best Places to Sail in New Zealand

As CEO of Universal mCloud Corp in San Francisco, Russ McMeekin is responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial aspects of the company. He led the merger of Yokogawa Venture Group, Industrial Evolution, and KBC Technologies to form mCloud. When away from work Russ McMeekin enjoys sailing, and has sailed to New Zealand. Some of the top places to sail in New Zealand can be found below.

1. Marlborough Sounds offer beaches, coves, bays, islands, and drowned valleys to explore by sailboat. Located at the northern-most point of the South Island, the region is also famous for its seafood and wine. Docking at the port town of Picton enables visitors the opportunity to explore its many galleries, specialty shops, and cafes.

2. As one of the most sought-after maritime parks in New Zealand, The Bay of Islands in Northland has 144 islands for sailors to journey to in year-round mild weather. Seafarers can also visit historical Russell Village, which features some of the oldest buildings in the country, along with seaside cafes, restaurants, and art galleries.

3. Auckland, also known as the 'City of Sails,' allows boaters to venture out in ideal weather conditions and experience panoramic views of beautiful beaches and landscapes. The island of Waiheke can be accessed from the harbor for tasting wine from renowned vineyards. Visitors can also dock at Rangitoto, the largest of Auckland's volcanic islands.
